  Asthma Workshop

-------- See Video and Photos Below! ----------

Click this link to Coming Events on our Coming Events/News page for the date of the next Asthma Workshop to be held by The Children's Clinic.

This particular Asthma Workshop was very well-attended. Because of an over-whelming response for this event by so many Children's Clinic parents, the venue for this event was moved to The Inn at Reading so as to comfortably accommodate everyone.

Dr. Salvatore Anzalone and Dr. Sandra L. Weidner of The Children's

Clinic conducted the evening's program. Dr. Salvatore Anzalone introduced their guest speaker, Dr. Edward W. Hein*, a specialist in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.

Dr. Anzalone opened the program. He said that at the Children's Clinic, it has become clear that the best care for an asthmatic child requires

education for the family. (That's why the Children's Clinic holds Asthma

workshops several times each year to assist parents in learning about

Asthma.) Parents of an asthmatic child need to learn:

  • What asthma is

  • How asthma affects your child

  • How asthma affects your family

  • How to treat asthma

  • How to manage asthma

  • How to control asthma so that your child's life is not limited by it.

Dr. Anzalone emphasized to parents that many Olympic athletes and

professional athletes have asthma, and function at a high physical level

in spite of their asthma because they know how to control their asthma.

Before Dr. Hein's presentation began, Dr. Anzalone made sure that

each family in attendance received a free kit from The Children's

Clinic containing a Peak Flow Meter that parents can use at home

to measure their child's lung function at a basic level.
